SSI Recipients to Receive COVID-19 Economic Impact Payments

The Social Security Administration determined those who receive Supplemental Security Income will receive automatic COVID-19 Economic Impact Payments. If you are receiving SSI, no additional action is needed to receive your COVID-19 payment. The treasury department expects $1,200 individual payments to be issued by early May.

The SSA also reports Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries will receive direct $1,200 payments by the end of April.

In addition, those who receive SSI and also have qualifying children under 17 years old are eligible to receive another $500 per child. The SSA has instructed them to visit the IRS’s website and select Non-Filers: Enter Your Payment Info. Submitting this information online will help ensure additional payments are received in a timely fashion.

For more information you can read the press release at the SSA website. If you have other questions regarding Social Security, call our office at 419-350-8277 to speak to one of our knowledgeable attorneys.
